Maximino Bessa
Director

Maximino Bessa is Assistant Professor, with Habilitation, of the Department of Engineering of the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro, Portugal, Senior Researcher of INESC TEC since 2009 and Director of the Multisensory Virtual Reality Laboratory MASSIVE. He’s Member of the Eurographics Association since 2003 and Vice-President of the Portuguese Computer Graphics Chapter for the period 2016-2018.

José Vasconcelos-Raposo
Vice-Director

José Vasconcelos-Raposo is a full-professor in the Department of Education and Psychology at UTAD, specialized in Performance Psychology. He is also Research Coordinator at INESC TEC. He has more than 100 scientific papers in peer-reviewed conferences and international journals. His work has been mainly devoted to the use of technology for improving human performance in different application fields such as sports, medical care or specialized training.

Miguel Melo
Vice-Director
Miguel Melo is Assistant Researcher at INESC TEC, specialized in Computer Graphics. He performs the role of R&D Project Manager and he is also member of the executive committee of Eurographics. He has been participating in several international research projects in the field of Multisensory Virtual Reality applied to different areas such as specialized training or tourism.

Researchers

A. Augusto Sousa

Augusto Sousa got his PhD in 1996 in Faculty of Engineering of University of Porto (FEUP), in the area of Computer Graphics/Image Synthesis and Parallel Computing. He is member of the Executive Board of FEUP, being the Vice-President of the Academic Affairs Council. Since 1985, he has been a researcher in INESC TEC, where he was the Coordinator of the Information Systems and Computer Graphics Unit. He has been the main researcher of several R&D projects related to Advanced/Intuitive Interaction, Virtual Reality, and Multisensory Virtual Environments. He was member of the Executive Board of the Portuguese EUROGRAPHICS Chapter, in two different periods of time, as well as a member of the Executive Committee of the EUROGRAPHICS Association.

Research Interests: Expeditious Modelling and Visualization of Urban Virtual Environments, Spatio-Temporal Data Processing and Visualization, Multisensory Virtual Reality

António Coelho

António Fernando Coelho is an Associate Professor with Habilitation at the Department of Informatics Engineering of the Faculty of Engineering (FEUP), University of Porto (UP). He is Senior Researcher at the Center for Information Systems and Computer Graphics (CSIG) of INESC TEC and the coordinator of the Computer Graphics and Virtual Environments area. Having completed his PhD thesis in 2006 at FEUP, in the area of Computer Graphics, he is actively involved in several research projects (from European projects to R&D projects with the industry) focused in the areas of Computer Graphics (Virtual and Augmented Reality and Procedural Modeling), Serious Games (Procedural Content Generation, Pervasive Gaming and Games-based Learning) and Geospatial Systems (Location-based Systems and Spatial Databases).

Carla M. Teixeira

Carla Maria Teixeira is Assistant Professor of the Universidade of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro, Portugal. She holds a PhD on Psychology and was Fulbright Scholar at the Pre-Academic Program at the University of New York. At MASSIVE Virtual Reality Laboratory, she has been researching the relationships between healthy lifestyles, technologies, and human behavior.

Galvão Meirinhos

Galvão Meirinhos holds a PhD in Information Sciences from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and Assistant professor at the University of Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro. He is also Integrated Researcher at LabCom.IFP at the University of Beira Interior and Editor of the electronic journal Inter-University Review of Communication Sciences and the International Journal of Security and Defense Sciences.

Luciana Cabral

Luciana Cabral is invited lecturer of the department of Foreign Languages of the Higher School of Education of the Polytechnic Institute of Bragança. Luciana is also a researcher of CITCEM - Transdisciplinary Research Centre «Culture, Space and Memory», devoted to research in the Humanities, Literary and Cultural Studies, and Information Science.

Luís Barbosa

Luís Barbosa is Assistant Professor at the Department of Engineering of the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro, Portugal and Researcher of the Center for Information Systems and Computer Graphics (CSIG) of INESC TEC since 2015. He is the Course Director of the Informatics Engineering Degree at UTAD since 2017.

Rui Rodrigues

Rui Rodrigues worked in the industry in the field of interactive systems and games until 2009, when he joined the Department of Informatics Engineering (DEI) at the Faculty of Engineering of University of Porto (FEUP) in 2009, where he is now Assistant Professor. He is one of the responsibles for the GIG group at DEI/FEUP and its labs. He is also a senior researcher at INESC TEC.

Vasco Amorim

Vasco Amorim, PhD in Physics, is Assistant Professor at the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro (UTAD) and Researcher at the Center for Innovation, Technology and Entrepreneurship (CITE) of INESC TEC. He published several articles in international scientific journals and participated in several international projects related to Energy (hydrogen) and Industrial Management. He also participates in several UTAD external consulting project teams.
